Pics of the car comedian CD John died in
As earlier reported, CD John, whose birthday is on Sunday, 27 March 2011 was returning from singer Harrysong‘s album listening party in a convoy of three cars involving the Gulder Ultimate Search Season 7 winner Kunle Oluwaremi.
According to Oluwaremi, the stationed black Toyota Corolla that caused the accident was one of Governor Babatunde Fashola‘s campaign vehicles; and the occupants of the car, we learnt, were pasting posters of the Lagos State Governor at the time of the incident.
‘My friend drove my car, but immediately we realized a car was on the road, he managed to swerve to the left but since it was sudden; my car hit the rear side of the Toyota. Meanwhile, CD was coming behind in a top speed and uncontrollably ran into my car seconds later (an Explorer Jeep)’, the 2011 GUS winner tells NET.
CD drove the black Golf 2 that took his life, with his girlfriend Ebere sitting next to him, and a certain Joy and an unknown young man at the back of the car.
Only Chijioke died few hours after being treated for supposed head injuries at St. Nicholas hospital while others who were in the car with him are still in at the hospital, recuperating from sustained minor injuries.
‘Ebere had a deep cut on her forehead, which has been stitched and bruises on her body. But Joy had a fracture on her arm but the guy wasn’t hurt much‘, a nurse at the hospital reluctantly told us after much persuasion.
CD’s corpse was moved from St. Nicholas hospital to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) morgue at 10:45 this morning in a convoy led by fellow comedians – Ali Baba, Gbenga Adeyinka the 1st, MC Abbey, Princess among others.
As announced by Ali Baba at the General hospital, Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fahola has ordered that a team of specialist carry out an Autopsy on CD’s body.
The comedians at the morgue declined media comments upon Ali Baba’s instructions but comedienne Princess who was on her toes all along, overseeing the process of corpse’s discharge at St Nicholas spoke to us;
‘This is very sad. He used to call me his mom jokingly and he was even supposed to go with me for a show in London soon‘, the comedienne sadly expressed.
CD’s mother did not sob uncontrollably as many would have expected but her eyes and her seemingly calm attitude would tell anyone the middle-aged woman was in deep sorrow.
Additionally, Oluwaremi also chipped that St. Nicholas hospital demanded an upfront payment of N200, 000 before they could attend to them.
‘They didn’t want to admit CD and other injured people despite seeing the serious injuries, in fact I don’t know what this county is turning into‘, he lamented.
NET’s efforts to speak to the management of St. Nicholas hospital proved abortive as the Chief Matron K. G Vigo refused to answer any of our questions, which included enquiries on the injury CD suffered before the untimely death. She noted ‘it’s confidential‘.
Burial and other arrangements would be announced in due cause. Below a few pictures from the scene of the accident and at the hospital…
