Nadia Buari officially dropped from U.S. PR Firm

 Ghanaian actress, Nadia Buari has been dropped by her US based PR firm, JMG MEDIA RELATIONS.

A few weeks ago, new stories emerged online claiming that the Actress, Nadia Buari lied about the gown she wore to the Pan African Film Festival in February. The Press release issued by the PR Firm credited Oscar De La Renta as the designer. It turned out that Oscar De La Renta denied ever making the Dress.

Why did Nadia Buari have to tell a lie to her her PR? Why do African Celebrities feel the need to credit International designers to boost their image? What happened to wearing the native Kente or Ankara Prints?

Even though the Letter from JMG MEDIA RELATIONS does not state a reason why they are withdrawing their Media Representation for the sexy screen goddess, for anyone has followed stories about Nadia Buari recently, the answer will not be far-fetched.This is very shameful and we hope other Celebrities are taking note.

Elizabeth Taylor Funeral Service Today

Elizabeth Taylor's private funeral service will be held today and she will be buried at the same cemetery where Michael Jackson is entombed.



The private service will be held at Forest Lawn in Glendale, CA.

Therefore it now appears Taylor's final resting place will not be the crypt next to her parents at the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery.

Tupac Movie Casting Lead Role Online

“Casting for Morgan Creek’s Tupac Shakur biopic, “Tupac” has been announced.

“Starting Monday, March 21, Morgan Creek and Skee.TV will be accepting audition videos online for the lead role of Shakur via the InSearchOfTupac.com website. Over the course of the month long open call, anyone interested can post a 5 minute video.”

According to the film’s producer David Robinson, they’re “looking for someone with the right mix of raw charm and charisma for the role.”

Robinson continues, “At this point, we’re more concerned about finding someone with the ability to give their entire heart into the performance than just looks and personality.”

Morgan Creek says the movie — which is being directed by “Training Day” and “Tears of the Sun” helmer Antoine Fuqua — will chronicle “the life and legacy of Tupac Shakur, including his rise to superstardom as a hip hop artist and actor, as well as his imprisonment and prolific, controversial time at Death Row Records, where he was steeped in the East Coast /West Coast rap war.”

MTV Base Africa has decided to launch a pro-democracy campaign in preparation for the April 2011 elections in Nigeria. This initiative is part of the Network’s global ‘Choose or Lose’ which is geared at encouraging young Nigerian to participate in the up coming election by registering, discussing and voting.

A key part of the initiative is this song, Rep 4 Naija which was produced by eLDee & Silvastone Beats, performed by eLDee, Naeto C, Black Twang, D’banj, Sound Sultan, Meaku. Also, the video which will premiere on MTV was directed by Clarence Peters and should be on TV any time now.

Apart from being a conscious track, Rep 4 Naija is quite an enjoyable joint. Meaku sings the hook while  Naeto C, Black Twang, Sound Sultan, D’banj, eLDee and M.I take care of the verses. Expect the video here shortly.

Anambra: Voters' Registration Centres Found in Evil Forest

Shock and disbelief could best describe the mood of Anambra State Deputy Governor, Mr. Emeka Sibeudu and the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for the state, Prof. Chukwuemeka Onukaogu, yesterday when the duo led security operatives to discover four registration centres located at a shrine in a deep forest.

The four centres which are in the deep Nziko forest at Nteje in Oyi Local Government Area, were manned by registration officers and had, at the time of the discovery, registered only about 200 voters since the commencement of the exercise 10 days ago.

Following security reports made available to Governor Peter Obi, his deputy and the REC led security operatives to the forest where the startling revelation of the four centres with the accompanying Direct Data Capture (DDC) machines was made.

On arrival at the forest which took about 40 minutes drive from the nearest residential area, the registration officers, mainly corps members, were idle and gazing at the machines with virtually nobody to register.

Reacting to the incident, the shock-stricken Prof. Onukaogu, described as painful, the discovery of four centres serving nobody in a thick forest when there were not enough machines for potential voters in places like Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi, Adazi, Agulu and others.

He said: “I have heard of floating/flying polling booths. Today, I have seen one. I am sad that there are four machines wasting here, whereas there are no machines in Onitsha, Eke Awka, Ozubulu, Nnewi and parts of Anaocha where thousands of people are waiting to be registered.”

Onukaogu noted that the four centres had registered only about 200 voters since the exercise started 10 days ago, when the same machines would have registered several thousands had they been located in densely-populated areas.
He said the irregular location of the centres also posed grave risk to the registration officers and the machines, questioning, “how will I evacuate men and machines in the event of danger?”

The REC boss alleged that the centres have been secured by an influential politician from the area, who would want to use it to rig election, but assured that he would remove three machines and leave one behind, just as he would need to meet with the registration officials before taking action.

Onukaogu stressed that he was constrained by the fact that the “floating registration centres” deep in the forest were documented from the INEC Abuja headquarters and assured it would be corrected. Also speaking, the Deputy Governor, who expressed shock at the location of the registration centres, said: “We have shortfalls in machines. But in the forest here, there are four machines lying idle. All the people we met here are not up to 10. But if you go to some other places, you will find thousands of people waiting to be registered”.

Describing such registration centres as what people use to perpetuate electoral fraud, the deputy governor said: “This, I can assure you, is part of the rascality of the past which the present government under Mr. Peter Obi is trying hard to stamp out of the state.”

However, a former deputy chairman of Oyi Local Government, Chief Samuel Offorkansi, who is overseeing affairs at the voting centres, insisted that the place had been serving as voting and registration centres since 1998, stressing that contrary to what the people think, the centres were in the midst of densely populated villages.

Jeta Amata's Black Gold Tops CNN Movie Review Chart

Jeta Amata's yet to be released movie about the Naija Delta, Black Gold, which stars several Hollywood actors, is currently generating a lot attention outside Nigeria. The movie was recently on the top list on CNN's movie review.

If these people are showing this much interest in a movie that's not even out yet, imagine when it comes out. Who knows, it could get an Oscar nomination for best foreign film next year. An Algerian film was nominated this year...so it's possible...

ANPP Governoship Candidate Assasinated today in Borno State

The ANPP Gubernatorial candidate in Borno State, Engr Modu Fannami Gubio, was assassinated this afternoon while paying a visit to his family home in Maiduguri. Two assailants who came in two motor cycles opened fire at him immediately he came out of the house, then started shooting randomly, killing 6 other people who were in his company.

Engr. Gubio was the Commissioner of Finance in Borno and the cousin to the Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff. He was picked as the ANPP Governorship candidate 14th of this month.

Those killed alongside him are Alhaji Goni Sheriff, younger brother to the Borno State Governor, two security officers attached to the aspirant and four other ANPP stalwarts.

May his soul rest in peace...amen.
