Photos: Soldiers and policemen clash again in Lagos

The incident occured on Thursday June 23 at Obanikoro, along the Ikorodu expressway in Lagos. Trouble started around 8a.m. when an army officer took the BRT lane restricted only to BRT and LAGBUS. State Task Force stopped him and tried to impound his car...the army man say lailai...he then called his people, na im wahala start...lol.

Fortunately no deaths were recorded and no shots were fired in the crisis that lasted about two hours, but three Army officers and a police officer suffered injuries after being beaten up in the resulting fracas. More pics when you continue...

D'Banj, Tuface at 2011 BET Pre-Awards Party in LA

Style Star: D'Banj and Tuface Idibia

This is what the superstars wore to the BET awards yesterday. Who would you give best dressed? I'm going with Tuface...that shirt on D'Banj...

Pictures From MBGN 2011 Pageant

For those who haven't seen the pics yet...enjoy...
More photos after the cut...

Jezebel may have clowned D'Banj, but American blogger Sandra Rose had nice things to say...

Here's what Sandra Rose wrote on her blog: "Kanye West recently signed 2 Nigerian artists to his G.O.O.D. Music label. One of them is D’banj, who, according to Upscale Hype, attended the 2011 BET Awards styled in a pair of Christian Louboutin Mika Raja flats ($2,395) from the Spring/Summer 2011 Collection. I would rather see a man dressed like D’banj than one dressed like those untamed beasts who roam the urban landscape with their pants hanging off their butts, like Lil Wayne and that ilk. We have to do better."

D'Banj's shoes is almost N400k? Damn, this guy's paid!

IG Ringim goes to Washington

The Inspector-General of Police Hafiz Ringim left Nigeria on Sunday on a five-day working visit to Washington, USA. His mission? He's there for talks with U.S officials on the current security situation in Nigeria. He went there to learn how to battle terrorism among other things. So hopefully when he gets back, Boko Haram will be in trouble. *Yimz*...:-)

Actress Chioma Topliss battles Oge Okoye

They used to be best friends. Don't know what caused their 'wahala' but here's what actress Chioma Toplis wrote on her facebook page on June 20. - "Please any one that knows actress Oge Okoye should tell her to free me o, as i am very very busy with my business which is why i am in Nigeria and do not and will never have time for her idle gosips and side talks. While you do please tell her also to concentrate in taking care of her children as i am doing too, and stop wasting her time discussing me as i am not the cause of her failed marriage.

Chioma wrote again: "While Oge Okoye is biting the fingers that fed her, she should also remember that those fingers could still choke her, especially MINE"
Oge is yet to respond.

Boko Haram claim suicide bombing of police HQ, IG of police their target

Nigerian radical Islamist sect, Boko Haram, has claimed responsibility for a suicide bomb attack on police headquarters in the capital Abuja that killed two, saying their target was the police chief.

"We are responsible for the bomb attack on the police headquarters in Abuja which was to prove a point to all those who doubt our capability," the group known as Boko Haram said after the attack late Thursday.
The powerful explosion, believed to the first suicide bombing by Islamist extremists in Nigeria, ripped through the police headquarters car park, killing a police officer and the bomber, wounding several others and destroying dozens of cars, according to police.

Please don't tell me suicide bombing has come to Nigeria...oh no!

Darey Art Alade takes the UK by storm!

African superstar Darey Art Alade continues to take the UK by storm. He is currently in London promoting his first international single release 'The Way You Are' which is out on iTunes on 19th June. His jammed packed media schedule (organised by UK/Nigerian celebrity publicity firm VA-PR) included press shoots, radio and TV interviews and climaxed with a special appearance at the star studded Keep A Child Alive Black Ball - an annual event hosted by Grammy Award winning artist Alicia Keys.

Darey looked ultra suave on the red carpet in a fashion forward James Hilman suit, Nico Didonna top and Ted Baker shoes and of course his signature shades! He enjoyed the fabulous evening alongside celebrities including Alicia Keys, Tinie Tempah (pictured with him above), Lemar, Swizz Beats, Boy George, Mark Ronson, Beth Ditto and Shingi Shoniwa.

Paddy Adenuga's security team strike again

I'm sure you all know he goes around with mobile police and body guards. That's not a problem...the problem occurs when these body guards start harassing/assaulting people. I witnessed his mobile policemen assaulting two ladies sometime last year in front of Auto lounge club, (read here if you missed it). His security detail struck again on Sunday June 12 at Get Arena, venue of Jimmy Jatt's Jimmy's Jump Off event. They beat up the security guard at the gate because he blocked the entrance of the venue and 'dared' to ask Paddy and his friends for their invites to the show. Absolutely not cool, Mr Adenuga. Caution those boys!

Police HQ Bombing: Justice Will Be Done - President Jonathan

Dear countrymen and women, this is not a time for too many words, however, let me say that the unfortunate event that occurred yesterday in Abuja is a turning point. About two months ago, I addressed the nation and said "enough is enough". I meant what I said and the Federal Government will with level headedness but urgent priority take appropriate steps to bring justice to those behind the dastardly attack. I promised an era of transformation and I will not waver in that commitment nor allow any force hamper that resolve to bring about those positive changes that the common man in Nigeria desires and has patiently waited for.

I commiserate with the families of the victims and assure them that justice will be done and that their loved ones did not die in vain.

Finally, let me say that EVERYTHING that needs to be done to fish out the masterminds of the recent bombings will be done. GEJ

20 corpses found hidden in tunnel in Onitsha - Reuters

Nigerian police have uncovered 20 corpses hidden in a tunnel in the southeastern town of Onitsha, and suspect they were victims of armed robbers.

Police said they happened upon the hideout on Saturday while responding to an attempted sexual assault in Onitsha's Upper Iweka district, where commuters are often prey to muggers riding motorbike taxis known by the trade name Okada.

No office, no studio, nothing! All they have is a bank account where they put my money." - The music star tweeted last evening...
